Big Five Game Drive in Welgevonden Game Reserve (6 hrs)
In the early morning (between 6:00-7:00 hrs) we depart from Kololo in an open safari vehicle (with roof) through the private entrance into Welgevonden Game Reserve. You will experience the different landscapes and sceneries and the vast variety of animals Welgevonden has to offer.
This extended drive takes about 6 hrs in our game drive vehicle and only departs in the morning. Your driver/ranger usually stops twice at a scenic place for a breakfast with tea and coffee and for a light lunch.
The Northern part of Welgevonden
With an open safari vehicle (with roof) you enter the reserve with the driver who is also your ranger and guide. He or she will take you to the northern part of Welgevonden Game Reserve and will tell you all about the reserve, the animal, trees, plants and other interesting facts. The Northern habitat of the reserve is quite different from the Southern part. It is more mountainous and has a lot more trees which means that you will be seeing different species of animals and birds. We normally see more elephants and the chance of spotting the elusive leopard is better in this part of Welgevonden.
The different valleys offer excellent possibilities for spotting the Klipspringer (Kololo is Sotho for Klipspringer) and Rock Dassies but also offer superb views on the mountains and valleys from above. Several rivers run through the valleys which provide the ideal habitat for the Waterbuck or if you are lucky you can spot elephants taking a nice (mud) bath.
